Lili Thomas Studio Policies 2017-2018
Welcome to a new year of wonderful music! I am so excited to continue with returning students, and to welcome new voices as well! In order to ensure a fun and productive semester, please review the following lesson policies below. This semester will run from September 5, 2017 - December 23, 2017.
Lessons are 50 minutes long (unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon). Tuition is equivalent to $100/lesson. There are two options for payment. Tuition can either be paid in full at the start of the semester, or in monthly installations on the first lesson of each month (the monthly cost will be the same each month and will simply be the full semester’s tuition divided by 4). **Pay in full to avoid late fees and sending $ with students. There will be a $25 late fee if you do not have the full payment at that month’s first lesson.
There will be a one time registration/materials fee of $40 that will cover costs of all purchasing and printing of your sheet music for the year. This is due, along with the first payment, at the time of confirming your time slot.
Payments are accepted through ChaseQuickpay (you do not need a Chase account to make a payment this way; only my email address: firstname.lastname@example.org) or Venmo (https://venmo.com). If you would still like to pay via cash/check, please make sure to send it with the student on the first lesson of each month, or mail it to me at 22 Nepperhan Ave. Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706.
You are making a commitment to this time slot for the duration of the semester. I have created a schedule based on the time preferences in which you feel confident that the student can reliably attend lessons.
- Students may reschedule a maximum of 1 lesson per semester for any reason, provided that notice is given at least 24 hours in advance. This make-up lesson is not a credit towards a future lesson. This make up lesson will be offered on December 17, 2017.
- Parents are charged in full for any cancellations beyond the first missed lesson and for any cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.
- Any absences or tardiness on the part of the instructor will always be made up or credited/refunded.
There is a small waiting area outside of the studio 318F. Parents feel free to wait there during lessons or leave and come back. For families whom I am traveling to, please allow 10 minutes on either end of your lesson start time, as I cannot predict traffic patterns, especially around the school buses.
To make sure students make weekly progress, at least 15 minutes of focused, daily practice is recommended for beginners. Students should bring a recording device (iPhone is acceptable) for reference with at home practicing. Repetition is key to good singing practices, and with good practice habits, students will amaze themselves with their improvement. Students are to keep all music organized in a 3-ring binder.
As musicians, we express ourselves and share our art through performance. Recitals are therefore a vital part of the learning process, as well as a fun and exciting opportunity to showcase the growth and improvement that have been made over the course of the semester!
Each semester will conclude with a recital, in which all students are expected (but not required) to participate. Students must maintain lessons and practice on a regular basis in order to participate in studio recitals.
Recitals will be scheduled according to availability towards the end of the semester. A recital fee of $25 will be collected at that time if you decide to participate.
I can’t wait to get started with you all and look forward to seeing you starting September 5th, 2017!
